The world's first toy industry appeared around the forests of Southern Germany in the early 1400's. The centre of this industry was the city of Nuremburg and toy making quickly became one of the country's most important exports.
In Medieval England, the earliest wooden toys were made by families. The popularity of these wooden toys grew to such an extent that craftsmen began to manufacture toys.
